Dr. Schultz is a native of Independence, Missouri who completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas graduating Summa Cum Laude. He went on to obtain his doctor of medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine in Columbia. Dr. Schultz has remained in Columbia where he completed a residency in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. Upon completing his residency he remained with the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics for a two year primary care sports medicine fellowship.
Dr. Schultz joined Columbia Orthopaedic Group in 2008 and specializes in sports medicine and non-operative orthopaedic care. He is one of seven sports medicine physicians at Columbia Orthopaedic Group and assists in the treatment and care of student-athletes at the University of Missouri-Columbia and other colleges and universities around mid-Missouri. He is also the team physician at Hallsville High School. Dr. Schultz combines his practice of sports medicine with family medicine as he is also a physician at the Family Health Center in Columbia, Missouri. He is fluent in Spanish and cares for a large percentage of Spanish speaking patients.
Dr. Schultz is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, and the National Hispanic Medical Association. Working directly with Dr. Schultz on his team is Jennifer Comer, Physician Extender.
Dr. Schultz and his wife Susan have two children. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family, church activities, soccer and running.
