Dr. Josh Hamann grew up on a farm in eastern Iowa where he learned hard work and the satisfaction of a job well done. Working with his father who was a carpenter, he learned to use the tools of the trade which translated perfectly into Orthopaedics. This, combined with Dr. Hamann’s love of athletics, lead him to his career in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Hamann graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Exercise Science and went on to Columbia, MO where he lived for 9 years completing Medical School and his Orthopaedic Residency at the University of Missouri. From Mizzou, Dr. Hamann completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Virginia, where he took care a variety of athletes and weekend warriors. Dr. Hamann covered James Madison University and University of Virginia athletics.
After fellowship, Dr. Hamann began a sucessful practice in Storm Lake, IA. In addition to his general Orthopaedic practice, he covered Buena Vista University (Div III) and many local high schools.
Dr. Hamann is Board certified by the ABOS, and a member of the AAOS, AOSSM and AANA. He specializes in arthroscopic surgeries of the knee and shoulder, articular restoration and shoulder replacement surgeries. While Dr. Hamann enjoys surgeries, he is also specializes in non-operative management of you orthopaedic problems.
Dr. Hamann moved to Columbia joining COG with his wife, Keira, and 2 children, Lyla and Dansby. Dr. Hamann enjoys spending time with his family, and 2 golden retrievers, Jefferson and Madison, as well as spending time outside in the garden. He is an avid sports fan, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals.
